Freight Terms

We bill shipping and handling on your invoice. Brick-and-mortar retailers can earn a freight allowance instead, by clearing one of three order thresholds.

Three conditions apply to every allowance below. The order ships from J&B stock to a single retail location, the destination is within the continental United States, and the invoice is paid within your stated terms.

The three levels

Each level is a threshold on one order. Clearing it changes what J&B pays the freight on — not how much of the freight, but which items.

The thresholds below are measured in FA product — freight allowable, which is most parts and accessories. The exceptions are tagged NFA or NFAS on the site; nothing is tagged FA, so an item carrying neither is FA. All three classes are defined further down.
Level 1 $400

FA product from your local warehouse

Reach $400 of shippable FA product and freight is allowed on that product. Anything NFA on the same shipment is still charged, even from your local warehouse.

Level 2 $600

NFA rides along once the minimum is met

Past $600 of FA product, NFA and NFAS items added afterwards are allowed too — as long as they ship from your local warehouse.

Level 3 $1,700

Any product, whatever the mix

At $1,700 the ladder stops asking what the order is made of. Everything shipping from your local warehouse is allowed, NFA included.

Every shipment has to carry at least $50 of qualifying product to earn the allowance — including the one from your local warehouse.

Split shipments

When your local warehouse is out of something, the order splits and the rest ships from elsewhere. Those shipments are judged one at a time, and not by the rules above.

Qualifying
Once the order clears Level 1, shipments from other warehouses can earn the allowance too — each one still needs $50 of qualifying product of its own. FA and NFAS both count toward that minimum; NFA does not.
NFA
Never allowed from an alternate warehouse, at any order total. A shipment mixing NFA with FA product is allowed on the FA part of it.
NFAS
An alternate shipment carrying NFAS earns half the freight on the whole shipment, as long as no NFA is on it.
Routing
Where J&B is allowing the freight, we ship everything we can from your local warehouse or the next closest one.

FA, NFA and NFAS

Three freight classes, two of which are tagged on the product. Both tags also appear by name on the shipping page during checkout.

FA Freight allowable
Everything not named below — most parts and accessories, and the product the thresholds are measured in. FA is not a tag you will see on the site: it is what an item is when it carries neither of the other two.
NFA Not freight allowable
Bulky or expensive to ship: bikes, adult and juvenile trikes, custom wheels, unicycles, repair stands and bases, parking racks, exercisers, strollers, trailers, 5-gallon tire sealer buckets, baby seats, bike cases, frames, empty shipping cartons — and anything whose shipping cost exceeds 20% of the shipment or split-shipment value.
NFAS Not freight allowable, split
Low value and freight-intensive once they ship from somewhere other than your local warehouse: wheels, wire bead tires, tubes, baskets, helmets. On a local shipment they behave like FA product.

Other charges

Two charges fall outside the freight allowance. Both apply whether or not an order earns one.

Custom wheels $20

Per wheel, Miami only

Custom wheel orders are entered, invoiced and shipped from our Miami warehouse as a separate purchase, at $20 shipping and handling per wheel.

A minimum order charge may also apply, assessed on ordering habits rather than on any one order. Your sales representative can tell you whether it applies to your account.

What is never allowed

Some orders and some charges sit outside the freight allowance no matter what the total reaches.

Order types
Distributor, OEM and export orders earn no freight allowance at any total.
Shipments
Backorders and drop shipments to your customers are excluded — both leave outside the order that earned the allowance.
Accessorials
Advance appointment, inside delivery, re-delivery, security and area surcharges, liftgate and residential delivery are billed as the carrier charges them.
Alaska, Hawaii
Both are on separate freight policies. Ask your sales representative which one covers your account.

Freight allowance turns on warehouse availability, item class, destination and order mix, and the shipping page shows the verdict for every shipment before you submit. For anything this page does not answer, contact your J&B sales representative.
